This rare vintage brass belt buckle is a true collector's piece, featuring the portrait of Marvin "Red" Burton on one side and a depiction of a hanging on the other. The buckle commemorates Burton's role as a Texas Ranger, with the inscription: "Marvin 'Red' Burton 1885-1970 appointed ranger in 1922, Red controlled the crowd at the last legal hanging in Texas 1923."
What makes this buckle particularly unique is that it is marked as a "Sample," while most of the limited edition belt buckles from this series are numbered. After extensive research, it appears that this buckle could be a one-of-a-kind piece, as no other examples like it have been found. The back of the buckle is marked with "The Texas Ranger Collection, Series Number Three, The New West Era," along with other historical details.
Crafted by ADM (Award Design Medals) in solid brass, this buckle measures 3.8" x 2.75", with an inside loop size of 1.8". A unique addition for collectors of Western memorabilia, Texas history, or vintage accessories.
